Was only there for an hour and a half...
I enjoyed yelling.
That was fun.
The three hour drive to a wedding with Dahlia and V where no plot happened was a bit of unnecessary downtime though.
;D

I enjoyed the fact that the mod worked (after a few initial kinks and some overheating )
also that the satellite trackers worked.
Oh damn where to even start: The absolute best was obviously finding the Sword of Fire. I should have said that earlier, but I have been thinking of it as something that happened between games, but as I understand it a lot of effort went into putting that together and I'm really thankful for everyone involved. You guys rock. 1: Being insanely suspicious the entire event that the new Cardinal was an Inquisitor planted by staff masquerading as a player who was going to kill me as soon as I opened up the box and proof of my heresy was revealed. I spoke to everyone I could about it and still couldn't accept it. I even wrote it down in my notes. And then gave her the notes. WHY AM I SO BAD AT NOTES??? Also I have given myself trust issues. 2: I have heard mixed reviews of the "Legion Sniper Fight" but I thought it was fantastic. People were dropping everywhere and I really felt the desperation of the situation and I liked that. 3: Patches in the mutant fight. B. would probably be dead if it weren't for Patches and Sidewinder finding him behind enemy lines. 4: Suit Giuseppe. 5: Drunk Giuseppe. 6: Every time someone from the Directorate gives me a bogus errand to run when I walk in on them about to roll a group of drug dealers 7: Rocketts and Broken Hearts

Jon Steady as the nuclear facility AI. "Welcome back, operator!" "Operator, you have exceeded the recommended dosage of radiation." "Please close the containment facility door."
Hearing Konstantin go into urgent mode on the radio when I hit the cooling pool.
Post-surgery, totally unarmed, dodging/sprinting away from three ORCs who decided to go after me, with Konstantin (and others, I think?) shooting at them.
Simon, as the Dreamspeaker, with a gentle, listening presence as two shaken and depressed Tekalli tried to make sense of things.
Making Dahlia cry with baby gifts.
Yuri, after Zorrah brought him outside to present the feather: "I thought he was going to shoot me in public!"

This was quite an event so i'll see if i can just pick a few great moments (there were so many!)
Watching duster society collapse around me, with me pushing it slowly to the brink.
the entire info dump from Peppers about what is really going on
realizing that Patches has performed 3 total surgeries and that all 3 have resulted in corpses.
Watching Rox suicide because life was too hard and realizing that Patches is far more apathetic towards quitters than i would have expected.
late Saturday night, Pepper's "council" being formed and the large number of jokes made about new duster gang names.
the entire sniper battle against the rogue legion. that was beautifully done.
more to come as i remember specifics.

The Mod was great. Cautious early, Patli had a moment. Who has the funk? Dezba - who never went in - saved the town. Military crawls. It was good.
Figuring out faction backgrounds. Aldebrandi Mafia, Duster orgies, Directorate ancestors may have created the Karst we know.
War Council. The map group was put together quickly and with a lot of help from other PCs.
The Day of the Dead. Everyone knows Legion are badass fighters, but we also understand to win you don't need to attack (Forms!) and defense is as important as offense (Penn). Story time and Battle of Wits were fun and engaging.
Trade Summit investigating.
Jurgen, Czeslav, and Roosevelt showing a lot of trust in Riot.
Slowly shedding factions and seeing Beacon moving towards its own unit.

Late Saturday night, Staff Center receives the best radio interchange in the history of the game: MAKA: "Papa Bear, this is Tick Tock. The sausage will be ready shortly." (cue lengthy and uninterrupted laughter from staff) TIBBS: "Papa Bear, this is Maverick -- save some for me." (3 second beat) GIUSEPPE: "How dare you. I'm a Baron. You think y- (unintelligible laughter and voices)."
Jon Steady and I realizing that Galadriel was the first Dust Runner.
VoodooSpecterGribbit Sep '14
1.) Nearly bleeding out because nobody could tell who I was in my red jacket. "Gribbit is bleeding out, he's really bad, someone should see to him." "Da. Bring him here." "No he's here. And he's bleeding out." "I can't help him until you bring him here." "... HE IS RIGHT HERE I AM POINTING AT HIM" "Oh. Diagnose?"
I had like seconds to go and all I could think of was "My first surgery is going to happen because of a who's on first situation in Triage."
2.) Also Yuriy killing that directorate guy with a cyanide pill. Worth the NDE just to hear that go down.
3.) The fight in the woods. We actually organized a search party to go back and look for people that patches and Sidewinder already saved. But it was a lot of fun charging over the stream to get behind enemy lines.
4.) Everything to do with Giuseppe, especially the new duster gangs.
Seven Sep '14
^^ I second the search party crossing the muddy river. Almost got stuck in that mud. Didn't realize I could jump so far.
The really bad con-man that was promising an 800+ salt return on a 14 salt investment. Giving conman said salt. Directorate men murdering conman and taking salt moments later.
DaveGame Director Sep '14
A selection of things I can share:
Me "If larping and Se7en have taught me one thing, it's never ask what's inside the box." Adrian looks puzzled. Henry asks her if she knows what's inside the box. Adrian "A tiny assassin?" Henry "That would have been a better ending."
Learning the secret of politics with Tap and the Directorate.
[Context Redacted] "They have advanced technology. Also, you're a shithead."
Stupid O'clock with Hannah! Staff center is busting a gut laughing for reasons too inane to elaborate. Tibbs walks in, looks at us still cackling, and puts his finger to his lips in a shushing gesture.
Highlights from the trial (AKA Law and Order: Beacon): "... then he walked away, and that was the last I saw of him." "Objection! Calls for speculation." "That he walked away?"
Lt Brooks "You there! Please step away from from the defense table." Sidewinder "I'm just a house plant!"
Brian Gould "I can't keep being the voice of reason."
Blue Sep '14
4.) Everything to do with Giuseppe, especially the new duster gangs.
I must give credit where it's due on this one. Dahlia invented the "fast fives" to kick it off. The rest of us just worked from there.
car0murCaroline Sep '14
The baby shower. Huge thanks to the players that made that so real. Getting Giuseppe back only to have him suggest less than 24 hours later that we send away our baby.
Watching the world go on while I sat there helplessly, unable to participate, the guilt I had, and understanding how frustrating it must be to feel marginalized in real life because of pregnancy. Letting other people have the things I wanted as a result. That shit got real but it was an important learning moment for me that I wanted to share.
DezbaOfTheEastDezba One-who-is-seeking-Peace Sep '14
Having Dezba's worldview shot to pieces on Friday night by the return of Guiseppe, then solidly reformed after the Spirit Walk where we found the Burning Gear Tree.
Being able to gather up resources to make sure that I cured enough radiation so the town could keep going back in, again and again. Then having to do surgery on Patli for falling in a pool of "coolant". Totally worth taking steroids to do it, and having to be angry and moody for the rest of the event.
Performing a skin graft for the face man WHAT
Trying to figure out a way we could make an implant to steadily infuse drug over time, so that we could stifle things like spirit affliction, maybe stabilize Dezba's head haha
Dalia's baby shower was great bonding time for the women of Beacon <3
Getting to actually kill one of the threshold 3 time tots myself because I held onto a buff given to me at the day of the dead was awesome (though I am very sorry to Vee/Kyle for colliding in the complete darkness). the bruise/scrape on my leg was worth it!
Of course, hanging out at the fire for storytime with Tap and Dezba, and the silliness of the Directorate sausage party and paying Chezlov to dance for us.
There was a lot of very fucked up shit that happened too, but these things helped a lot.
Jessamine Sep '14
MNDK/ MINDICK. That can never be un-experienced. The eyes of Vedere are burning upon seeing that monstrosity. ...I loved every second of it.
Realizing nobody knew my name and I would just be "The Cardinal" forever, and being OK with that.
Being all excited/nervous about re-meeting Giuseppe only to have him already have known who I was.
Getting left in the woods only to be rescued by heroic townsfolk who know when to hide in the shadows, and having my first surgery.
Getting ganked in the pavilion by Dave C. in a robot suit swinging 5 crushing and holding him off for three minutes with a table and a dagger. Later, waylaying his grenadier most epically. So awesome. Such fear. Wow.
Awkward Aldebrandi politics. Hahahaha.
KathPatli Tototl/Medicine Bird Sep '14
Getting left in the woods only to be rescued by heroic townsfolk who know when to hide in the shadows, and having my first surgery.
Substitute "doing" for "having," and that goes for me too...
PraseodymiumBaldassarre Giotto Sep '14
I should note that "Heroic Townsfolk" is primarily "Patches" And "Sidewinder" (although sidewinder was not hiding and was actually rooted in place in the open). If it were not for the two of them I also would have bled to death in the woods. That mutant fight was really stellar too. I think it's getting overshadowed by the soul crushing desperation of the Legion fight, but it was really fantastic. I remember saying to someone "Is it just me or has that creepy noise been following us" just about two minutes before the trap closed around us on both sides and thinking "Whyyyyyyyyyyy". In case it wasn't perfectly clear, if I could undo any one part of the weekend, it would be "Game Off". It's getting better the more practice I get at being my character, too.

This event was fantasic, and everything I needed to get excited for the next year, and it kicked me out of a funk I've been stuck in for awhile. So, thank you to everyone.
Fighting with tactics as various human enemies this weekend. Doing small ambushes around cabins, or funneling players into kill-boxes as the legionnaires. Smart crunchies are the best kind.
Sneaking up with the players in the dark and pretending to be one of them to get them separated from a larger group of backup. Only just being recognized by Derek when I was right next to him.
Getting ambushed by Zorrah at the junkyard, and the ensuing fight. Well-prepared Tekalli fox was well-prepared. I think the first person to throw a swing when we were on the ground was going to be the first person to drop.
Breaking Duster hearts as Blanket. Telling people about the things that Dusters were having to encounter as the blank spaces on the map started to fill in, and the outside world's problems spilled into their lives.
Dat mod. Dat mod. Dat mod.
Legion fiiiiight! Throwing grenades, dropping trap calls, and the fustercluck it turned into. A good time was had.
Fixing the broken pole-saw after it broke on Friday night. I'm glad it turned out okay.
RP with Rowan as Johnny, and the players growing to understand that he is a possible resource, for better or for worse.
EvilHannah Sep '14
For reals it was awesome listening to the staffers come back with stories about what players were doing and experiencing. I get to hear both sides when you post it here and talk about it and it's great. Thanks everybody!

Had a lot of fun this weekend, makes the bruises worth it hehe.
- Everything having to do with Koba the flutist. From being spirited away from the Brotherhood converging on her to being brought back by gunpoint and especially all the players that spoke to and showed concern for her afterwards.
- Getting a rifle for a bottle of Karen's brew. Awesome ;D
- Dat legion fight tho. My favorite part was squaring off against Rowan (I think) and I'm not sure who in the dark. Someone away from us said to call out hostiles, so they did. Someone else comes over, moves in front of me and starts fighting Rowan. I whap him in the back till he goes down and die shortly after. So much wonderful confusion and I was totally guilty of a couple of 'friendly fires' myself.
- Coming behind players as mutants as they passed us in the dark.
- MNDC I think my mind broke slightly from that plot. I laughed so hard. Also hearing Zorrah say something along the lines of 'And people think I'm crazy for thinking that we're all dead and this afterworld is a way of punishing us?'
- Yuriy's 'wonderful' acting after slipping Noble a cyanide pill 'Oh no, what's happening? He's seizing' etc etc
I'm sure a few have slipped my mind, but anyway, you're all awesome and I had a blast being alternately killed and saved by you all. ^.^
magusdave Sep '14
This weekend was a blast [despite sitting out a lot due to my frickin' chest cold].
Even before game began - BGA response tag with Alex, weaving a story that had recurring symbolism and layers of meaning.
Watching the trackers during Satellite retrieval night. Jon Steady as the Arkway AI - your contracts are TERMINATED Beacon-folk. Regular maintenance is important. Two Steps face and vocalization after the last fuel rod was replaced. Impromptu surgical theater at the cabins. SNIPER! Everyone ducks and covers. Pulling a death stone for Dufresne. Yes, folks. ANY surgery is bad fucking news. The level of trust shown by a player with Brother Bell. Great risk == great reward. Brainstorming with Steady and Alex - and the right solution clicking into place like a puzzle piece.
Players - you rock. Hard.

There are many many favorite moments. But one quote in particular jumps to my mind.
The horrible Chelle/Cory abomination that the PCs made comes out. Patches: "...Listen alright, I cut a man's hands off today just to listen to him scream, but that shit is unacceptable."
zorrahyeyi Oct '14
Patches: "...Listen alright, I cut a man's hands off today just to listen to him scream, but that shit is unacceptable."
When Beacon forms itself as an independent city-state, we should put this on our flag.
Getting ambushed by Zorrah at the junkyard, and the ensuing fight. Well-prepared Tekalli fox was well-prepared. I think the first person to throw a swing when we were on the ground was going to be the first person to drop.
The moment Johnny woke up and grabbed his collar, Zorrah thought "Well, this is it. I survived this long only to have a Duster kill me. Gods damn it."
Actually, that's a lie. It was more like "SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT"
AndyTwo-Steps Oct '14
"Computer, do you have the funk?" "What is 'the funk'?" "Yes, yes. Do you have the funk?" "What is 'the funk'?" "Yeah, yeah..."
Just... everything to do with that mod. And the Steady AI. And the fact that my Arkway Mechanical Health Insurance was voided.
"Detonation... averted." "Det---WHAAAT?!"
The twitch. Oh man, was it hard to keep up. But watching everyone's faces as they tried to convince Two-Steps that he had a twitch, and each independently realizing there was no convincing him... priceless.
Accidentally making a "Sheridan's Point" joke in front of Dezba. Whoops!
During the sniper fight: Me: "Zack, Line of Voice Waylay!" beat Zack: "Who?" Literally Everyone: "You!"
As I'm laying on the ground after sniping Lt. Noble twice and then getting chain-sniped by his men, I hear the distinctive walking cadence of Brady. "So you're the one who's been breaking my armor." knife Welp, I've had a good run. It's been fun, Two-Steps, we did cool stuff. Then, out of nowhere, Rowan poofs out of the heroic ether and grabs his attention. Like. A. Bawss.
Getting that last Snipe off on Lt. Noble... and immediately paying the lead price for it. Worth it!
"...Did we get him?" "Da. I shoved cyanide pill down his throat." murder-five
Doing the 'wink-and-gun' motion to clarify who I had sniped at one point during the final fight.
Lastly: Discussing slaves with Zorrah, Two-Steps suddenly realized that they had very different world views. "Jerkweed decided to pay me in a slave girl." "Well, is she a good slave?" "W--I mean... well yes, but... but that's not the point!"
Rowan Oct '14
A few of my favorite moments...
Watching Penn and Barnaby fight the mutant. Penn totally held his own and forms!!
Baby shower for Dahliah. Real tears! Victory!
Zorrah giving Rowan a good luck charm for the trial. He almost got real tears from me.
"Ginger Slag"
Interacting with Brother Jeremy, especially his RP learning how to use a pistol.
Konstantines hotdogs for breakfast!
Porch talk and tears with Yuriy. (Thank you)
Shit talking Nobel loudly ... Immediately followed by - Rowan line of voice Cleave! ... Whoops!
Two Butts and Yuriys reactions to Rowan being alive.
Roosevelt telling Rowan he was proud of her.
Rowan Oct '14
Also... God dammit. So many tears last game. Roosevelt you jerk. You know just how to twist the knife.
