I thought when I graduated from Cadet to Trooper life would be more exciting. Instead, I am going to spend the rest of my life traveling back and forth on this same path guarding this same caravan. At least I am on the day shift. I get to sleep when the caravan is in one spot. The night shift tries to sleep while its moving. I think that's why the night shift always kicks us so hard when they wake us up. Follow a good kicking up with 100 pushups for an untied bootlace at inspection, and I'm ready for the the morning watch! Lunch looks like the same terrible rations we had yesterday, and the day before that, and....maybe with my free shift this afternoon I will ask for permission to try and hunt. Wont have much time though, its my turn to inspect the wagons and reins for wear this week. I can't wait to get to the end of this run. We'll be near Beacon, and I hear we are getting a few days off while the caravan restocks to visit. I hear its luxurious, some people even have real beds. I hope there aren't any mutants there.

The Legion is a military force which has held itself together through sheer dedication and obedience to its chain of command. All born into The Legion are soldiers, and will serve for their entire lives. Those who find their territories annexed by The Legion either join the military, or quickly find themselves second-class citizens. The majority of soldiers in Beacon are members of the Partisans, one of the four armies of The Legion. The Partisans are an army of irregulars, whose purpose is to assist The Legion's allies in protecting their territories from attacks. The Partisans often work closely with The Brotherhood of Reason, as the Brotherhood pays for their services with valuable information and technological equipment.
