Postmasters Union

Description:

Today I woke to wind and rain, but that didn't matter. I beat the blood back into my stiff legs and the bandage around my calf blushed, but that didn't matter. The doctor back in Heron’s Point told me I shouldn't walk on it for two more weeks. But the mail can’t wait two weeks. Beacon can’t wait two more weeks. It’s the letters that I hold near my heart that matter, not my leg. Post­Officer Strides didn't want me to take this route, not as my first solo run. But how can I make a difference if I’m afraid of a few mutants? The Postmaster would be ashamed.

So I continue, because the world is changing and it needs its mail. I may not be as smart as some of my fellows, or as strong. But I will go where they won’t, I’ll go into the darkness as far as my body will take me, and then I’ll take one step more, because I have to.

The Postmaster’s Union is founded on a simple adage “A world without mail sucks.” As such the members of the Postmaster’s Union fill a niche role in the economy of Karst, acting a couriers and mailmen to the various factions.

Post­Officers believe that you should strive to do your best in all things. This belief in the exemplar is core to their culture. Indeed the Union considers itself to be composed of the best qualities of each of the older factions, the orderliness of the Legion, the camaraderie of the Directorate, the pride of the Aldebrandi, and so on.

Being an extremely small and young faction, the Union has no lands to call their own. They exist by issuing assignments out of “Post Offices,” locations leased by more established factions or independent townships. In return for providing the much needed service of mail, the Post Office is given protection and autonomy (acting as a sort of embassy for the Union).
