Professions: Lorekeeper (21)

Faction: Aldebrandi

Other Affiliations: Masterless Drones

Backstory:

Baldassarre was born the fourth child of a minor Gioto nobleman whose lands border the Wastes. In addition to the family lands, Baldassarre's family controls a garrison at a watchtower, from which they send patrols and scouting parties out into the Wastes. Baldassarre once commanded scouting parties hoping to eventually be recognized and promoted by his father to command of the garrison. He returned one day from an expedition deep into the wastes to find that the command had been given to his older sister Daria , who is considered by many to be a more skilled and experienced warrior. Leaving behind the watchtower, Baldassarre journeyed to the town of Beacon looking to find honor hunting beasts and mutants near and around the town.

Claims to Fame: Discovered the Swords of Fire along with the resting places of the Aldebrandi Gods.

History:

Epologue:

Baldassarre Gioto had a farm and some cows and wrote stories about the heroes of Beacon and the old world to inspire generations to come, especially the Masterless Drones, to whom he was always family.

Behind the Scenes:

Motivations: History - Baldassarre loves to learn about the people of the past, especially heroes (The resistance, the gods) and villains (the corporations). The swords of fire are a prime example of this that paid off more than I thought it would originally, but he mostly likes to hear about the people and the stories about things that happened in this regard.

Helping - Baldassarre is a sage because he likes to help people. He’s got a weakness for sob stories, and doesn’t like making decisions to hurt others in order to save himself. That being said, he values those close to him more than strangers which has lead to some conflicted feelings over some of his actions, like locking out people during the rad storms. Baldassarre doesn’t like to see large-scale suffering especially.

Heroics - Baldassarre wants to defeat evil wherever he finds it. The heroes of the Aldebrandi faced down terrible evil and triumphed, and Baldassarre is unwilling to let evil win this time. There isn’t much one person can do, but he wants desperately to live up to the tradition of his ancestors and do heroic deeds, even if we all die and nobody remembers them.

These motivations are drawn from the 3 gods of the Aldebrandi and their teachings. I solidified the concept of the character only a few games ago in Vedere’s tomb, when we were confronted by the inquisitor I realized that he lacked integrity, kindness, and bravery, all of which were core beliefs of the faith. In attempting to preserve the letter of the faith, he had abandoned the teachings entirely. I chose a different path immediately as a reflex as soon as I worked that out.
