Professions:

Faction: New Rebellion

Other Affiliations: Postmaster's Union

Backstory:

Allen Ryder was born about 25 years ago to Legion parents who (as far as he knows) didn't want their son to have to endure the same difficult life they had. With a lot of effort, they managed to conceal his birth and smuggle him out of Legion territory with a passing Courier. The Courier raised Ryder as her own, training him to help with the delivery of packages and processing of post, never telling him about his heritage. They spent time among a variety of factions as a result, from Dusters to Aldebrandi, but actively avoided any Legion jobs.

When the formal creation of the Post-Offices and the Union began a few years ago, Ryder decided to leave his mother (now a Post-Officer) and become a Courier in his own right; at this time, his mother told him about his heritage and the importance of keeping it secret. He has since told no one, and never intends to. Ryder spent a few years as a Courier under Post-Officer Strides, an experience he found frustrating due to Triple Strides' brash nature and overconfidence; Ryder found himself constantly having to take on the actual work necessary to keep the Post Office running.

Ryder was recently re-assigned to Beacon to work under Postmaster Two-Steps directly. On his way to Beacon, he was assigned to bring some high-profile packages with him, to be delivered on arrival. He wasn't sure what they contained, or who they were for - The addresses were in an envelope marked with "Not to be opened until arrival in Beacon". (This kind of anonymity of both the sender and the recipients is unusual for Post deliveries, but Ryder was assured by Post-Officer Strides that they were being paid very well.) Unfortunately, he was jumped on the way to Beacon, and when he came to, both the packages and addresses were gone.

Ryder is hard-working, but often exacerbated and tired. He'll do whatever he needs to get the job done, but "would prefer if we could just take the path of least resistance, just this one time, please". He doesn't have any allegiance to any faction beyond the Postmaster's Union, and generally gets along with anyone other than the Legion, who he avoids when possible. He's good with words, and prefers to talk his way out of situations when possible; he's not a warrior, just a public servant.
